'Dr. Romantic 3' star donates 100 million won to hospital

Actor Lee Sung-kyoung donated 100 million won ($75,760) to Dankook University Hospital after having played a cardiothoracic surgeon in SBS’ drama “Dr. Romantic 3” (2023), her agency, YG Entertainment, said Wednesday.
Lee played Cha Eun-jae, a trauma surgeon at the fictional Doldam Hospital in “Dr. Romantic 3,” which ended in June 2023.
“I got interested in the field of trauma treatment, which is one of the essential medical fields, after acting in a medical drama,” Lee said in a news release. “I wanted to take part in helping medical development, as they are working hard to save traumatized patients.”
The donation will help develop the infrastructure of Dankook University Hospital’s regional trauma center.
Dankook University Hospital is in responsible for surgeries and other treatments for patients with major trauma in the South Chungcheong region.
Lee debuted in 2008 as a model. She began acting in 2014, playing a supporting role in SBS's drama series “It's Okay, That's Love” (2014). Lee is now known for her roles in TV shows “Cheese in the Trap” (2016), “Doctors” (2016), “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo” (2016) and “Dr. Romantic 3" (2020) and films “Love+Sling” (2018) and “Miss & Mrs. Cops” (2019). She most recently starred in “Dr. Romantic 3" (. 2023).
Lee recently won the Top Excellence Award for a seasonal drama for her performance in “Dr. Romantic 3" at the 2023 SBS Drama Awards on Dec. 29.
