Seoul will offer career consultations to 2,000 university students at its Job Match Seoul center, with international students offered consultations for the first time.

The city announced Monday it plans to provide career consultations to more than 2,000 students this year.

It also aims to connect 1,300 of them with jobs at startups, global companies and businesses related to the fourth industrial revolution.

Seoul has been offering career consultations at the Job Match Seoul center in Jung District, central Seoul, since July 2022. It worked with 628 companies and offered jobs to 1,586 job-seekers who visited the center.

This is the first year the center has opened career consultations for foreign nationals, stating it plans to "help highly-educated international students get a job and reside in Korea."

There will be a separate desk for international students at the center, offering consultations in English.

Visitors will be able to get help writing their résumés, learn how to do job interviews and get information about companies that want to hire people with their skills.

Individuals aged 15 to 39 who are residing in Seoul and currently enrolled in a university in Seoul are eligible for the consultations. Foreign nationals are subject to the same requirements, although they need to have a residence card.

People can sign up for career consultations on the Job Match Seoul website, or visit the center and wait for an available slot. Consultations are available at the center between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays.

"Job Match Seoul aims to connect companies with job-seekers, while also offering career opportunities for students who wish to build their career in the startup industry or at a global business," said Lee Hae-woo, head of the city's Economic Policy Office. "Offering consultations to around 2,000 this year, we plan to match more than 1,300 with jobs."
