Livestreaming platform Chzzk logs more users than Afreeca TV in March

Naver’s livestreaming platform Chzzk surpassed another dominant competitor, Afreeca TV, by number of mobile app users in March, according to market researcher Wiseapp, Retail, Goods on Tuesday.
 
Chzzk had 2.16 million users, exceeding that of Afreeca TV’s 1.96 million. The data was compiled from Korean smartphone users on Android and iOS systems.
 
The number of Chzzk users has been steadily rising, posting 1.11 million for the month it was launched last December, 1.53 million in January and 2.01 million in February.
 
Afreeca TV’s user total dipped slightly in March from February’s 2.08 million.
 
Meanwhile, the total app usage duration was higher for Afreeca TV with 710 million minutes compared to Chzzk’s 360 million minutes. Afreeca TV’s average engagement time per user was more than twice as much than Chzzk, recording 362 minutes compared to the Naver platform's 169 minutes.
