Game publisher Krafton’s role-playing game (RPG), Dark and Darker Mobile, is recruiting beta testers in Korea to be the first to try the much-anticipated game before its official release this year.

The application link opened on Krafton’s main website on Thursday, and submissions will be processed on a first come, first served basis.

The closed beta test will be conducted from April 24 to 28 and will only be accessible through Android devices on mobile.

Before the beta test, Krafton is conducting an event for players where they can test their tendencies as explorers through a survey at the link posted on the official website. Once they finish the survey and agree to disclose their personal information, they will be rewarded with in-game currency.

The event runs until April 21.

Krafton also released a new teaser trailer for the RPG on its official YouTube channel on Thursday, giving a glimpse into the game’s core gameplay centered around dungeon escape, accentuating the dark atmosphere of its medieval low-fantasy universe.

The game publisher opened up online community channels on YouTube, Discord and Naver Game Lounge on March 25.

Developed by Krafton’s Bluehole Studio, the game publisher acquired global rights last August to develop and publish a mobile adaptation of the massively multiplayer online (MMO) game Dark and Darker, developed by another game company, Ironmace.

Krafton’s mobile game has received favorable reviews since the company unveiled the game to the public for the first time at the G-star 2023 game festival last November, noting smooth gameplay and a user-friendly interface.

However, the original MMO game is embroiled in a legal lawsuit between Ironmace and another major game publisher, Nexon, who accused the former of stealing assets and personnel to create the game.
