Thunderstorms and hail lash Korea with more yellow dust on the horizon

Korea woke up with rainy weather on Wednesday, which will be accompanied by strong gusts, thunder and lightning until the afternoon. Hail is also expected in some areas.  
 
After the rainfall, yellow dust is expected to sweep the country again.

The capital area, including Seoul, and the South Chungcheong area saw around 5 millimeters (0.2 inches) of rain as of 7 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA).  
 
The North Chungcheong, Gangwon’s Yeongseo region, and the Jeolla area also saw around 1 millimeter of rain.
Rain is expected to stop in the morning in the Jeolla region and in the afternoon in other regions.
 
Rain is forecast to fall until Wednesday evening in the southern part of the Yeongseo region of Gangwon, the northern part of North Chungcheong, and the northern part of North Gyeongsang.
 
Jeju will see rain until the morning, according to the KMA.  
 
Not much more rain precipitation is expected during the day as rain clouds are rapidly passing the nation at 40 kilometers per hour (25 miles per hour).
 
However, gusts of wind, thunder and lightning may be seen in the Seoul metropolitan area, South Chungcheong and Jeolla regions during the morning and in Gangwon, North Chungcheong, and the Gyeongsang region from morning until later in the day.
  
Some areas may witness hailstones.
 
The greater Seoul area, including Incheon and Gyeonggi, Gangwon, North Jeolla, Daegu and North Gyeongsang, is expected to receive between 5 to 20 millimeters of rain through Wednesday. Gwangju and South Jeolla are expected to see around 5 millimeters of rain, and Jeju Island less than 5 millimeters.
 
Wednesday's temperature will be chilly as cold air moves southward along with strong winds.
 
The morning low ranged between 9 to 14 degrees Celsius (48.2 to 57.2 degrees Fahrenheit).
 
Midday highs are expected to reach 13 to 22 degrees Celsius nationwide on Wednesday.
 
Gangwon’s Yeongdong region’s midday high is forecast to be under 15 degrees Celsius.  
 
From Thursday, warm air will inflow into the nation as a high-pressure air mass enters, raising the country’s temperature and widening temperature fluctuations between midday highs and morning lows.
 
On Thursday, morning lows are expected to range between 7 and 13 degrees Celsius, and midday highs will reach 19 to 27 degrees Celsius.
 
On Friday, morning lows are expected to be 8 to 16 degrees Celsius, and the midday high is expected to range from 20 to 27 degrees Celsius.
 
Yellow dust, originating from Mongolia and the Gobi Desert, is also expected to pass over the country again on Thursday after the rain stops.
