Though its much-loved giant panda Fu Bao is no longer there to greet visitors, Everland, an amusement park and zoo in Yongin, Gyeonggi, announced last week that its “beautiful flowers at the flower gardens have fully bloomed, just in time to welcome families and couples for a spring outing.”

비록 많은 사랑을 받아온 자이언트 판다 푸바오가 떠나 더 이상 방문객을 맞이하지 않지만, 테마파크이자 동물원인 경기도 용인 에버랜드는 지난주 “정원에 아름다운 꽃들이 때마침 활짝 피어 봄 나들이를 계획하는 가족과 연인을 환영할 준비를 마쳤다”고 밝혔다.

According to Bae Teck-yung, vice president of Samsung C&T and head of its Park Operations Team, Everland has been working hard to make its gardens more appealing to visitors by developing diverse programs, aiming to prove that Everland has much more to offer than just fun rides and giant pandas.

삼성물산 배택영 리조트사업부장(부사장)은 에버랜드엔 재미있는 놀이기구와 자이언트 판다 뿐만 아니라 그 이상을 제공한다는 것을 보여주기 위해 다양한 프로그램을 개발하고 특히 에버랜드 정원을 매력적으로 선보이기 위해 열심히 노력해 왔다고 전했다.

Inside Everland, there are five gardens. The Four Seasons Garden is the smallest, taking up 10,000 square meters (107,600 square feet) of the theme park. But it has always been the busiest, as it's the venue for Everland's signature fireworks and laser shows that change the themes every season. This spring, Everland teamed up with Sanrio, the Japanese entertainment company behind the 50-year-old Hello Kitty brand, to decorate the garden. Everland said visitors will especially enjoy taking photographs in and around this garden, as it has just completed a grand renewal, the second since the garden's opening in 1976.

에버랜드에는 정원 다섯 개가 있다. 이중 포시즌스가든은 에버랜드의 1만㎡만 차지하는 가장 작은 정원이다. 그러나 이 곳은 철마다 테마를 바꾸면서 에버랜드 대표 상품이 된 불꽃놀이와 레이저쇼가 진행되는 장소로 가장 붐비는 곳이다. 올 봄 에버랜드는 50주년을 맞은 헬로키티 브랜드를 만든 일본 엔터테인먼트 기업 산리오와 함께 이 정원을 장식했다. 1976년 개장 이래 두번째로 진행된 대대적인 재단장을 막 마쳤기 때문에 방문객은 정원 안팎에서 사진 촬영을 즐길 수 있을 것이라는 설명이다.

Popular Sanrio characters, ranging from the cute, white and chubby puppy named Cinnamoroll to the white, rabbit-like creature called Kuromi, are on display as giant figures among the sea of tulips and daffodils at the Four Seasons Garden.

시나몬롤이라는 이름의 귀엽고 하얗고 통통한 강아지 캐릭터부터 쿠로미라는 이름의 하얀 토끼 같은 캐릭터까지 인기 산리오 캐릭터들이 포시즌스 정원의 무수한 튤립과 수선화 사이에 전시돼 있다.

Everland said the garden is already very crowded with families and young boys and girls lining up to take pictures with the Sanrio characters. On March 22, Everland kicked off the tulip festival and visitors will be able to enjoy some 1.2 million tulips in 100 different varieties.

산리오 캐릭터와 사진을 찍기 위해 줄을 선 가족과 어린이들로 이미 이 정원이 매우 붐비고 있다고 에버랜드는 전했다. 지난달 22일 에버랜드의 튤립 축제가 개막해 방문객은 100여종의 튤립 약 120만 송이를 감상할 수 있다.

On the garden's large LED screen, a video of Sanrio's characters having fun in the garden plays on a loop. On weekends, My Melody and Kuromi will also make live appearances in the garden to take pictures with visitors, Everland said. The tulip festival runs until June 16.

정원의 대형 LED 화면에는 산리오 캐릭터들이 정원에서 즐거운 시간을 보내는 영상이 반복 재생된다. 주말에는 방문객과 사진을 찍기 위해 마이멜로디와 쿠로미가 실제로 등장한다. 튤립 축제는 6월 16일까지다.

Everland’s Music Garden was established in 2016 and is located in the center of the theme park. Everland said it established the garden after learning about the sonic bloom effect, which is a technique that helps improve plant growth. At the garden, music plays at a special frequency to help the trees, plants and flowers grow better. The music includes some classical pieces as well as tunes composed by Everland especially for the garden. Visitors can stroll along the 370-meter (1,200 foot) trail while listening to the music.

에버랜드의 뮤직가든은 2016년 개장했고 에버랜드 중앙에 위치해 있다. 식물 성장을 촉진하는 음향의 효과에 대해 알게 된 후에 이 정원을 개장했다. 이 곳에선 나무와 식물, 꽃들이 더 잘 자랄 수 있도록 특별한 주파수에 맞춘 음악이 재생된다. 이중엔 클래식 곡과 함께 에버랜드가 이 정원을 위해 특별히 작곡한 곡도 있다. 방문객은 음악을 들으면서 370m 길이의 산책로를 따라 걸을 수 있다.
