The InterContinental Seoul COEX hotel in Gangnam District, southern Seoul, is closing operations on July 1 and will reopen as a Marriott property, according to building owner and local hospitality brand Parnas on Monday.
Under the new name Westin Seoul Parnas, the hotel is slated to reopen in the second half of 2025.
Parnas will continue to own the property but Marriott International will be running hotel operations in lieu of IHG Hotels & Resorts.
InterContinental Seoul COEX first opened in 1999.
Parnas also owns IHG's Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas, a five-star property in Gangnam District, and Parnas Hotel Jeju, and operates five Nine Tree hotels in Seoul and Gyeonggi.
"Parnas Hotel plans to expand the scope of its hospitality business based on its hotel management expertise and know-how accumulated over 40 years while strengthening its positioning as a premium lifestyle brand that is closely related to customers’ daily lives," Parnas said in Monday's press release.
Founded in 1985 as Hanmoo Development, Parnas is a Korean hotel company that opened its first hotel, Grand InterContinental Hotel Seoul Parnas, in 1988.
