Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas
Through June 30: Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Samseong-dong announced it will hold “True Luxury with Art” to exhibit masterpieces from Korea’s most renowned artists at the hotel lobby and support an art fair in collaboration with StART ART Korea. Twenty-seven pieces from artists who have achieved milestones in the history of contemporary art in Korea will be presented until the end of June. As an official sponsor of the StART Art Fair Seoul 2022, the hotel will support a global project designed to discover talented new artists.
Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas has made the masterpieces accessible for every visitor to the hotel.
Two pieces of “Regression,” part of the Water drop series of artist Kim Tschang-yeul, one of the most well-known names in the fine art scene in Korea, welcome guests. Also known as the artist of water droplets, his art demonstrates both artistry and a popular appeal. He started drawing water droplets after encountering beautiful morning dew when he was using a horse barn as a studio in Paris in the 1970s, and his art has developed for the past five decades with the consistent theme of water droplets.
The exhibition also presents three pieces from the "Internal Rhythm" series of artist Kim Tae-ho, who is widely considered one of the most important artists in modernism in Korea. "Internal Rhythm" is an embossed relievo piece where vertical and horizontal lines are weaved together to form a grid, and it has a vibration and rhythm coming from within.
Four pieces from "The Song of Life" by all-encompassing artist Kim Byung-jong, who blurs the boundary between writing and painting, and two pieces of "Flower World" from Oriental painting artist Kim Keunjoong with a bold use of glamorous colors, also take part in the exhibition. In addition, artwork from Kim Chu-ok, Hyoung Jinshik, Lee Aeri, Byun Ungpil and Kim Myonggyu are invited to the exhibition, providing visitors with an opportunity to see a total of 27 artworks from nine artists at the same spot.
StART ART is a fine art company that holds a global art fair every year in partnership with Saatchi Gallery, which represents the fine art scene in Britain. In addition to holding an exhibition at the hotel, Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas intends to promote the advancement of the fine art market in Asia through collaboration as an official sponsor for StART Art Fair Seoul 2022. The official announcement for StART Art Fair Seoul 2022 is set to be held in Seoul in September for the first time in Asia. It will be attended by David Ciclitira, the founder of StART Art Fair from Britain, globally renowned curator Serenella Ciclitira and 10 artists including Kim Tae-ho, Kim Byungjong and Kim Keunjoong to provide explanations of the art fair. The curator will introduce the artworks exhibited on the ground floor of the hotel.
This masterpiece exhibition will be held until the end of June. Trendy artworks by young artists and preview pieces for StART Art Fair Seoul 2022 will be presented as an alternative until October. All artworks exhibited at the hotel can be purchased from StART ART Korea.
