SM Entertainment opens auditions for next girl group

SM Entertainment is holding its ″SMNGG″ global girl group audition. [SM ENTERTAINMENT]

SM Entertainment is looking to find members for its next girl group through a global audition.

Titled “2024 SM New Girl Group Audition, SMNGG,” SMNGG will be SM Entertainment’s first-ever global audition call for a girl group.

Anyone born between 2005 and 2011 can apply for the audition online until June 22.

Applicants must attach a self-introduction video, followed by vocal and dance videos. The songs must be chosen from a select list, consisting of tracks originally performed by artists of the agency. The list includes songs BoA’s “Merry-Chri” (2004), Girls' Generation’s “Into the New World” (2007). and aespa’s “Spicy” (2023).

SM Entertainment is known for many big name K-pop girl groups, such as Girls' Generation, f(x), Red Velvet and aespa. aespa, the agency’s most recent girl group, made its debut in 2020.
