"Veteran" (2015) director Ryoo Seung-wan’s next film "Humint" will include a star-studded cast including actors Zo In-Sung, Park Jeong-min, Park Hae-joon and Nana.

The action spy film's title, "Humint," is a portmanteau of human and intelligence and refers to people gathering information. The film revolves around the conflicts between South and North Korean secret spies as they dig into a crime that occurred near Russia’s Vladivostok border.

Zo will play an official at Korea’s National Intelligence Service. This is the actor's third collaboration with director Ryoo, after having previously worked in Ryoo’s recent works “Escape from Mogadishu” (2021) and “Smugglers” (2023).

Park Jeong-min will take the role of a North Korean official, meeting with Zo on screen once again after “Smugglers.” Park Hae-joon will play a North Korean consul general in Vladivostok, and Nana will play an employee at a North Korean restaurant.

The film is scheduled to start shooting in October, according to its distributor NEW.

Director Ryoo was recently invited to the 77th Cannes International Film Festival in May, where his latest film “I, the Executioner," premiered. The film is a sequel to his 2015 film "Veteran." Director Ryoo and the cast received a 10-minute standing ovation after the screening.

“I, the Executioner,” starring actors Hwang Jung-min and Jung Hae-in, is slated to be released in local theaters during the second half of this year.
