The “Pavilion Family Day” event promoting Korean culture took place at the Serpentine Pavilion in London on Sunday, the Korean Cultural Centre U.K. said Monday.

The day was filled with programs inviting visitors to participate in Korean cultural activities such as K-pop dances, Korean calligraphy, tuho (traditional arrow-throwing game) and jegi-chagi (traditional hacky sack game played with a shuttlecock).

The Serpentine Pavilion is an annual commission project that has invited an international architect to create a new temporary building since 2000.

This year, Cho Min-suk helmed the 23rd edition with “Archipelagic Void,” which took inspiration from the madang (courtyard) of a gaok (traditional Korean home) and reinterpreted it into the shape of a star that has five “island” spaces.

The pavilion features a six-channel sound installation titled "The Willow is" at its entrance which will transition into "Moonlight" in September to represent the changing seasons. Both installations were composed by musician Jang Young-gyu.

Cho is the first Korean architect to take part in the Serpentine Pavilion.
