Stray Kids perform NSYNC-inspired version of 'Chk Chk Boom' at AMAs' 50th anniversary

Boy band Stray Kids performed at the American Music Awards’ (AMAs) two-hour special event held at LA Center Studios in Los Angeles, California on Oct. 6 to celebrate the major U.S. pop music awards' 50th anniversary.

The boy band became the second K-pop act to perform at the awards show, following BTS in 2021.

Stray Kids received a special introduction, appearing in a video alongside some of the biggest pop boy bands in history, including New Edition, New Kids on the Block, Boyz II Men, NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, One Direction and BTS. Stray Kids then took the stage, introduced by NSYNC's Lance Bass and Backstreet Boys' A.J. McLean.

Stray Kids delivered a performance of "Chk Chk Boom," the lead track from its latest EP "ATE." The group also featured a unique arrangement of the song incorporating elements of U.S. band NSYNC's iconic hit "Bye Bye Bye" (2000), according to JYP Entertainment.

After the performance, NSYNC shared a cross-edited video of both groups' performances on its official social media, saying that it was an honor to see the K-pop boy band recreate the choreography of "Bye Bye Bye."

"ATE" topped the Billboard 200 albums chart for five consecutive weeks, starting the week of Aug. 3. The EP also stands as the best-selling K-pop album in the United States this year, as of Sept. 30, according to the agency JYP Entertainment.

The band is set to continue its "dominATE" world tour with performances in Australia, followed by Taiwan, Japan, the Philippines and more. Dates and stops for concerts in North America, South America and Europe will be announced soon.
