The Homeplus Gimhae Branch in South Gyeongnam relaunched as the 32nd Homeplus Mega Food Market on Oct. 17.

The store spans 18,843 square meters (202,824 square feet) with no floor segregation between food and non-food items, offering shoppers a more convenient experience.

By facilitating “one-stop shopping,” which allows customers to fulfill all their shopping needs in one place, the store has maintained its position as the leading large-scale supermarket in the Gimhae area.

The store’s accessible location in Nae-dong — the center of Gimhae and adjacent to large-scale apartment complexes in Gusan-dong and Samgye-dong — enables it to serve a diverse customer base.

With living infrastructure such as schools and parks established nearby and an additional 9,400 households expected to move into the area by 2027, the store has strong underlying demand and significant potential for growth.

Situated along a four-lane main road, many customers visit by car, but the store is also accessible via public transportation, with a light rail station just a five-minute walk away.

The renewal into a Homeplus Mega Food Market aims to sharpen Homeplus’s competitive edge in Gimhae.

Customers entering will be greeted by the aroma from Mon Boulanger, Homeplus’s bakery brand situated by the store’s entrance. The meat market section features affordable and premium meats. The fresh sashimi corner offers premium tuna sashimi and fresh sushi, while seasonal and hydroponically grown produce is sold in the fruits and veggies section.

The deli corner’s facilities and sales space have expanded to meet the demand for Homeplus’s popular deli items, including the new Sot Sot chicken nuggets and the 10 million-seller fried chicken series, Dang Dang.

For health-conscious consumers, the “better choice” corner shelves healthy food options like low-calorie sauces and one-ingredient snacks. The liquor section — named the “Mixology Zone” — offers a selection of trendy spirits.

Newly added specialized food sections include the “Ramyeon Museum,” stocked with around 200 different varieties of ramyeon, the world sauce section featuring famous sauces from around the globe, and the dining street zone offering an array of convenience foods.

The store’s newly renovated food court provides a broad selection of popular menu items, while the fashion corner has also been revamped.

“With its high-quality products, spacious parking, and pleasant shopping environment, the Homeplus Gimhae branch has long served consumers as one of Gimhae’s best retail locations,” said Yoo Hye-kyung, head of Homeplus Retail Experiences.

“Through its renewal, we hope to better meet specific consumer needs and continue the store’s legacy as a top-notch mega mart.”
