Park Hee-jun won Korea’s first karate medal of the Hangzhou Asian Games, beating Cheng Tsz Man Chris of Hong Kong to take bronze in the men's kata at LSC Gymnasium KTE Tatami in Hangzhou, China.
Park Hee-jun left the men's kata event of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics without a medal, tied for fifth place, at Nippon Budokan on Friday evening.
Karate is one of the five sports set to make an Olympic debut at the Tokyo Games, joining judo and Taekwondo as the third Olympic martial art. Korea's Park Hee-jun will be a one-man karate team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
