Jo Seung-woo to play Dr. Zhivago instead of actor Ju Ji-hoon
Jo attended a press conference yesterday in Sogong-dong, northern Seoul, alongside the musical’s producer, Shin Chun-soo, to talk about his replacement of actor Ju Ji-hoon.
“When I first received the call from Shin, asking me to take part in the production, I thought he must be crazy,” Jo said. “I declined the offer, but then I went to the studio where the actors of the musical were rehearsing. I saw the cast members in rehearsal and realized the big potential this musical has.”
Jo said one of the main reasons he declined the offer initially was the fact that the production wasn’t delayed despite one of the leading actors pulling out of the show just before the musical’s opening on Jan. 27.
Ju was set for the lead role but announced on Jan. 10 that he would no longer be taking part in the musical due to vocal cord injuries.
