Friendly match set between Korea, Peru

Korea will have a friendly football match with Peru on Aug. 14, the Korea Football Association said yesterday, giving new national manager Hong Myung-bo what is likely to be his first mission at full capacity.

Hong, who took the reins on Monday, will have his debut match as national coach at the EAFF East Asian Cup to be held in Korea next month.

But, his team at the East Asian competition is expected to be composed of domestic players only, as the players overseas will return to their clubs in preparation for a new season.

The time and the place of the Peru match are yet to be announced. Peru, ranked 30th by FIFA, routed Korea 4-0 in their previous match, a friendly, which took place in February 1971.
