Kim finishes fourth at Sony Open, marking career best

Korean golfer Kim Si-woo had his best career result in the PGA Tour, as the 20-year-old finished fourth in the Sony Open in Hawaii on Sunday.

At the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, Kim hit 2-under 68 in the final round and finished the open with a total score of 16-under 264.

Kim is the youngest golfer to graduate from the PGA Tour Q-School at 17 years, 5 months, 6 days old in 2012. He had one win in the second-tier Web.com Tour last year.

Meanwhile, Fabian Gomez of Argentina collected his second win in the PGA Tour after beating Brandt Snedeker on the second playoff hole in the Sony Open. Both went extra holes after finishing 20-under. Zac Blair was third at 19-under.

Korea’s youngest skating champion signs with agency

You Young, who became the youngest national figure skating champion last week, has signed with a local agency that also manages her idol Kim Yu-na.

The agency, All That Sports, announced Monday that it has signed a three-year contract with You.

You won the women’s senior category at the 70th National Figure Skating Championship on Jan. 10 at the age of 11 years and 8 months, breaking the record held by Kim, who won the national title at the age of 12 years and 6 months in 2003.

You also began training at the Taeneung National Training Center on Monday. The Korea Skating Union (KSU) gave her permission to practice at the national team’s rink despite a rule that forbids underage skaters - this year, those born after July 1, 2003 - from becoming national team members.

The KSU said that it will come up with more programs to support young prospects like You.
