K-pop star CL, whose mother passed away on Jan. 23, thanked her fans Wednesday by uploading a post on her Instagram account, which has been disabled since her mother's passing.

"Thank you for giving me light during one of the most difficult times of my life, with all of your kind words and the outpouring of love," wrote CL, a former member of K-pop girl group 2NE1.

"My mother, the most brave, selfless and giving person I know, will continue to live on through me with everything she has taught me."

CL wrote in both English and Korean.

She also asked her mother to watch over her and her sister.

On Feb. 10, CL's agency announced that CL's mother, who resided overseas, died of a heart attack on Jan. 23 at the age of 53.

The funeral was held from Feb. 10, and the burial was on Feb. 12.
