To celebrate her birthday, singer IU made a charitable donation, according to her agency EDAM Entertainment.

IU donated 500 million won ($440,500) to many different organizations such as the Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation, the Korean Unwed Mothers Families Association, among others.

Her birthday fell on May 16 and she turned 28. She is 29 in Korean age.

“To pay back the love she has gotten throughout her 20s, the singer wanted to give back on her birthday to send off her 20s,” said the agency.

The singer, alongside with her fan club members, has made a habit of marking special occasions by donating to charity. Most recently, she donated 100 million won to Linker, which supports single-parent families, and The Snail of Love, which helps people with hearing disabilities, to thank her fans who patiently waited for the release of her fifth regular album in March.
