Actor Kim Seon-ho is set to make his film debut. The news follows the backlash the actor received for pressuring an ex-girlfriend to have an abortion.
The production company behind the film, titled “Sad Tropics” (translated), said it was difficult to find a replacement for Kim's role with production originally slated to start this month.
After a post online by someone claiming to be the ex-girlfriend of “actor K” was circulated with allegations that the rising star allegedly gave her 2 million won ($1,700) for an abortion after she became pregnant with his child in July 2020, Kim was dropped from two other movies.
Kim admitted to pressuring his then-girlfriend into having an abortion and issued an apology.
The movie “Sad Tropics” is about a boy with a Korean father and Filipino mother who comes to Korea with dreams of becoming a boxer.
Kim, who has been more active as a theater actor, gained recognition after taking a lead role in the hit television drama series “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha.”
