BTS’s music video for “MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix)” surpassed 1.2 billion views Wednesday.
 
According to Big Hit Music on Thursday, the music video which was released in November 2017 surpassed the record on Wednesday morning.
 
“MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix)” is a remix version of the song by DJ Steve Aoki. The original song was part of EP “Love Yourself: Her” (2017).
 
Steve Aoki and BTS feature together in the video, with a colorful performance by the band with unique and powerful beats added by the DJ. The scene in which Suga drops his microphone near the end of the video went viral online.
 
BTS currently possesses 37 videos with more than 1 million views. The music video for “Boy With Luv” (2019) retains the highest number of views with 1.5 billion.
 
Meanwhile, multiple songs by the boy band continued to surface on weekly Billboard charts released on Wednesday. In Billboard Global 200, “Butter” (2021) ranks No. 83, “My Universe” (2021) at No. 96 and “Dynamite” (2020) at No. 99. In Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, “Butter” ranks No. 62, “My Universe” at No. 68, “Dynamite” at No. 72 and “Permission to Dance” (2021) at No. 148.
 
According to Shazam, the global music search engine platform on May 31, member Jin’s “Yours” and V’s “Christmas Tree” ranked No. 1 and 2 in the Global Top 200 chart. It marks the first time for a Korean solo artist to top the chart.
 
Meanwhile, BTS was set to return to Korea on Thursday, from its visit at the White House for a meeting with President Joe Biden, to prepare for the drop of its album “Proof” on June 10.
 
It is said to be an anthology album that compiles nine years of BTS’s discography. According to the track lists that have been released, the album will include a remastered version of the 2013 unreleased track "Born Singer," a new song titled "Run BTS" (translated) and the acapella version of Jungkook's "Still With You" (2020).
 
The release of a CD album comes 11 months since the band last dropped a CD EP containing the two tracks “Butter” (2021) and “Permission to Dance” (2021) last July.
