Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas
Through Oct. 15: Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Samseong-dong, southern Seoul, is introducing the event-oriented casual pop-up pub Parnas Garden on the outside of the ground floor of the hotel under the theme of “Urban Garden with Music.”
The pub is an exotic space that feels like an oasis away from hectic urban life and offers a unique experience that includes live music sessions run three times a day. Open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., the pub presents beer, wine and special snacks brought by the hotel chefs.
As expected for a casual pub, the most iconic items on the menu are suitable for both light meals and snacks for drinking, such as fried chicken and pizza frequently paired with beer. The hotel’s signature handmade sausage instantly cooked on the spot, oven-cooked chicken drum sticks called Crispy Chicken, prosciutto pizza topped with prosciutto made from Korean pork, and assorted charcuterie are all available at reasonable prices that range from 20,000 won ($14) to 30,000 won.
During the pop-up restaurant period, busking sessions will be held three times a day. Young musicians who sing with live guitar or piano performance provide busking for 40 minutes per session, three times a day at 7 p.m., 8 p.m., and 9 p.m.
“We have created an exotic space in the middle of busy and crowded downtown to offer lively and exciting music, tasty food, and chilled beer that will blow away daily fatigue,” said the head of the Food and Beverage Department in charge of this Parnas Garden event. “We hope this space can be a healing opportunity for office workers around Samseong-dong and those who want to fully enjoy a vacation away from daily life."
Part of the revenue from Parnas Garden will be donated to those in need.

JW Marriott Hotel Seoul
Through Nov. 30: The Lounge at JW Marriott Hotel Seoul presents the Autumn Holic Afternoon Tea Set, a celebration of autumn ingredients. This autumn’s afternoon tea set is inspired by seasonal themes, offering an indulgent afternoon of escape amid warm sunlight, stunning urban views, and a selection of desserts, savory items, premium teas and coffees, and champagne.
A quintet of exquisitely-crafted desserts embodies the deepening aromas of autumn. Pear tarts feature crispy pastry filled with soft almond cream and sweet seasonal pears, topped with almond crumble and sablé cookies. Chocolate apricot mousse is a blend of sweet caramel chocolate mousse and apricot compote, while mont blanc cakes celebrate iconic autumn ingredient chestnut, enveloped in Chantilly cream. Green apple mousse showcases the sweetness of perfectly-ripened apples, while fig panna cotta is a melt-in-the-mouth purée. The savory menu includes two freshly-baked raspberry scones, saffron mousse, topped with smoked paprika-seasoned prawns; and sweet potato and milk mousse, soft milk mouse with baked purple sweet potato, as well as crab sandwiches and pastrami burgers. Two of each dessert and savory item are served, creating the perfect afternoon tea experience for sharing.
The Autumn Holic Afternoon Tea is served with a choice of nine teas by an American organic tea brand Rishi Tea, Homage Coffee, custom-blended exclusively for JW Marriott Hotel Seoul by America’s Trinidad Coffee, and Korean traditional teas. It is priced at 100,000 won for two guests, including tax and service charges. The Champagne Afternoon Tea Set, featuring the same menu of desserts, savory items and soft beverages, with the addition of two glasses of premium champagne, is priced at 150,000 won, including tax and service charges. Afternoon tea sets at The Lounge are served from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Andaz Seoul Gangnam
Announcement: Andaz Seoul Gangnam, a luxury lifestyle hotel by Hyatt Hotels & Resorts located in Apgujeong-dong in Gangnam District, southern Seoul, appointed Robert Hamer as general manager.
Born in Australia, Robert began his hospitality career in 1981 at Thredbo village, a famous ski resort in Southern NSW, and his 34-year journey with Hyatt started in 1988 as assistant restaurant manager at Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove on Australia’s Gold Coast.
He was selected as Australia’s first Hyatt International Corporate Leadership Trainee within eight months. Between 1992 and 2004, Robert held assistant director, director and executive assistant manager roles in food and beverage at Grand Hyatt Melbourne, Grand Hyatt Singapore, Grand Hyatt Fukuoka, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong and Grand Hyatt Tokyo, including a four-year assignment at Hyatt International Asia Pacific's head office as assistant director of food and beverage for Asia Pacific. Following Tokyo, Robert was resident manager at Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok before becoming general manager at Asia Pacific Hyatt International, overseeing the opening of Hyatt Regency Hakone Resort and Spa and the rebranding of Hyatt Regency Tokyo.
For the past 14 years, Robert has been general manager at Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Sha Tin; Andaz Xintiandi, Shanghai; and most recently, Hyatt Regency Kyoto. In addition, he has been recognized for its ability by hotel owners, business partners and employees for his authentic service and accurate insight into business, while embracing a variety of environments, such as demonstrating a business philosophy that harmonizes with the local community and applying best practices for each hotel.
“I am delighted to start a new chapter with Andaz Seoul Gangnam, and will strive to provide amazing teamwork, development of colleagues and sincere service,” Hammer told Andaz Seoul Gangnam in a press release. “I love the Andaz brand and, with the incredible team here, hope to continue its legacy of providing authentic hospitality, Gangnam style.”

Westin Josun Seoul
Through Nov. 20: Westin Josun Seoul introduces a package called Chu-Hyang-Chu-Book which translates to “Read books with Fall Breeze.”
The package comes with special goods inspired by "Walden," a book by American writer Henry David Thoreau.
“Walden” is about Thoreau’s experiences over the course of two years, two months and two days in a cabin he built near Walden Pond amidst woodland. He makes precise observations of nature as well as poetic uses of natural phenomena. In addition, there are much cultural content for guest to read books in various ways through a literary vending machine by 91-degree and Josun Bookshop in collaboration with a Korean popular publisher, Minumsa.
All guests who purchase the package can receive a book diffuser exclusively designed for the Westin Josun Seoul by Proust, a perfume workroom.
Inspired by the cabin from the book, “Walden,” the book diffuser features fragrances with a mix of woody and musky notes.
In order to make the stay experience even more delightful, guests will be provided a bookmark in the form of perfume test strips with a passage from the “Walden.”
In addition, literary vending machines by 91-degree will be installed in the lobby and the Westin Club on 20th floor serving up short stories with verses from more than 2,500 of poems, novels and essays.
For a guest reserving a Suite room, a Simple and Inner Book Rest from Quott will be offered as a gift to offer a more comfortable reading experience. This handmade Book Rest has a triangle shape bringing up the image of a cabin in the essay, “Walden.” Not only does it hold a book, it also looks impressive on any shelf as a great decorative piece.
In particular, if a guest chooses a Deluxe room type with whisky, a bottle of Dewar’s 12-year-old blend (700 milliliters) will be provided. The whisky is loved worldwide by many experienced whisky drinkers for more than 160 years since it has been awarded a British royal warrant. A whisky tray with nuts, a lemon wedge and ginger ale will be delivered to the room to let guests fully enjoy the deep complexity of Dewar’s.
Guests staying in the Executive room or above will have the access to the Josun Bookshop in collaboration with Minumsa in the Club Lounge on the 20th floor. The bookshop contains more than 150 books including the series of “Today’s Young Writer” and “The Complete Series of World Literature by Minumsa” under the theme of Joy of Reading.
