LG Electronics introduced a sleep aid device Monday.

Named “brid.zzz,” the 6-gram wireless earphones monitor brain waves and provide sleep-inducing sounds, according to the electronics maker. The bird.zzz device will be released in the domestic market in the first half of this year.

LG Electronics plans to showcase its latest sleep aid device at the CES 2023 tech fair, which will kick off on Thursday in Las Vegas.

The brid.zzz earphones, which can be used in tandem with a smartphone app, provide binaural beats, an auditory illusion created by hearing different frequencies in separate ears, to help users fall asleep or enter the deep sleep stage. Users will be able to listen to music or other sleep-inducing sounds with binaural beats using the device.

LG Electronics explained that the device also monitors users' sleeping patterns and daily activities through the smartphone app to adjust its sleep-inducing frequencies accordingly.

The device was developed by LG Electronics’ SleepWave Company division.

LG Electronics recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Asleep, to apply the start-up’s sleep pattern diagnosing technologies to the company’s home appliances.

For instance, an LG Electronics air purifier that has the technology will automatically change to "sleep mode" when it detects a person has fallen asleep.

LG Electronics will display its brid.zzz and other experimental devices, such as workout equipment and a wireless charging station for electronic mobility devices such as electronic scooters and bicycles, at its LG Labs zone at the CES 2023 show.
