Production for Korea's first cheerleading movie 'Victory' begins

Korea's first-ever film about high school cheerleading has started production, its production company Annapurna Film announced Monday.

Titled "Victory," the film will star singer and actor Hyeri, known for her leading role in the tvN drama “Reply 1998” (2015) and actor Park Se-wan, known for her work in the 2019 MBC drama “Never Twice."

Set in the late 90s in Geojae, South Gyeongsang, the movie will revolve around Pilseon, Mina and Sehyun. Pilseon, played by Hyeri, is a student who gets into cheerleading by chance, who forms a high school cheerleading team "Millenium Girl," with her best friend, Mina, played by Park Se-wan. The duo will be seen clashing with Sehyeon, a transfer student from Seoul in the film. Sehyeon is played by the actor Jo Aram, a former member of the girl group gugudan.

Director of the 2014 movie “Red Carpet“ and the 2020 movie “Single in Seoul,” Park Bum-soo will direct the film. The movie started its production on March 4, with its release date yet to be confirmed.
