Dongsuh Foods recalls coffee mixes due to possible silicon pieces

Dongsuh Foods voluntarily recalled its coffee mix brand Maxim Mocha Gold made in its Changwon factory due to the possibility of a silicon-type substance being found in the mixes.
The company stated on Tuesday that the substance may be in Maxim Mocha Gold’s 600 gram pack and seven other packages — such as the 2.04 kilogram, 2.4 kilogram and 3 kilogram packs— that were made at the Changwon plant and have certain manufacturing dates.
The silicon substance is used during the manufacturing process to make the coffee mixes.
The substance, if it makes it into the package, could be easily spotted by the consumers as it was not powdered, the company explained.
Information about the products being recalled can be found on a pop-up page on the company’s website.
Consumers who bought the relevant product can receive guidance about the return by calling the company’s consultation team number at 080-023-9114.
“We are sorry that there was a problem with the quality of our products,” the company said in a statement. “We plan to reinforce our quality inspection process to avoid similar problems in the future.”
Dongsuh Foods is the company behind a number of instant coffee brands, including Kanu and Maxim.
