BabyMonster, YG Entertainment’s upcoming girl group, will debut with all seven candidates — Ahyeon, Ruka, Chiquita, Haram, Pharita, Rora and Asa — in Fall.

The agency had previously announced that the girl group will debut with only five out of the seven contestants, eliminating two trainees.

In a 12-minute video uploaded on the girl group’s YouTube channel on Friday, Yang Hyun-suk, the founder and executive producer of YG Entertainment, was seen announcing and explaining the reasoning behind the final members' selection.

But after revealing the initial five members, Ahyeon, Ruka, Chiquita, Haram and Pharita, Yang made a “surprise announcement” that the two planned-to-be-eliminated trainees Rora and Asa would be added to the group.

“The first five members I revealed are the five members YG chose. The other two members, Rora and Asa — think of them as members you chose,” Yang said.

“Since whole-group activities [with the seven members] is what fans wanted so badly, I came to think that we can achieve both things this way.”

Yang explained in a previous video last month that the girl group will feature only five members because “none of the girl groups produced at YG had many members.”

“We will do our best so that [the debut] can happen as soon as possible. This is just a projection, but I don’t think it will be any later than this fall,” the founder said.

Out of the seven members, Ahyeon, Haram and Rora are Korean, Pharita and Chiquita are Thai and Ruka and Asa are Japanese.
