Singer Kang Seung-yoon, otherwise known as Yoon of boy band Winner, will start his mandatory military service on June 20, his agency YG Entertainment said Wednesday.

The company did not disclose the time or location of where he will begin his basic training. No events will be held that day to send the singer off.

"We hope for your continued love and support until the day that Kang Seung-yoon finishes his military duty and comes back to us healthy," the agency said.

"We also promise to continue our affection and support toward the Winner members."

Yoon became known to the public after auditioning for Mnet’s singing contest “Superstar K2” (2010). His cover of “Instinctively,” singer-songwriter Yoon Jong-shin’s 2010 song, became a No. 1 hit on local music charts at the time. He subsequently made his debut as a member of Winner in 2014.

Winner debuted with its first full-length album “2014 S/S.” The band currently consists of four members: Seungyoon, Mino, Hoony and Jinu. The band last held a concert at Olympic Hall in Olympic Park, eastern Seoul in April.
