Entertainment agencies DSP Media and Beats Entertainment will debut a new five-member girl group later this year. [EACH COMPANY]

A new five-member girl group will debut this year under agency DSP Media, the company announced Thursday.

“DSP Media is currently in preparation for a new five-member girl group. Through the systematic artist management and production system DSP Media is best known for, we plan on debuting a girl group that will continue the legacy of Fin.K.L and Kara,” the agency said in a press release Thursday.

DSP Media is known for successfully launching K-pop artists over generations, including Sechskies and Fin.K.L to Kara, Rainbow and April.

The new group will be produced in collaboration with Beats Entertainment, an entertainment agency founded by producer and rapper Kiggen.

Kiggen produced and wrote lyrics for many K-pop artists, including Seventeen, Twice, Wanna One and WJSN.

DSP Media, founded by Lee Ho-yun in 1991, was one of the most prominent agencies in the K-pop industry from the 90s to the early 2000s.

Agency RBW acquired DSP Media in January last year, and DSP is currently home to Youngji from Kara, mixed-gender group KARD, boy band Mirae and more.
