NewJeans will be participating in an original soundtrack (OST) project for the first time for the upcoming Netflix series "A Time Called You," the girl group's agency ADOR said Friday.

"A Time Called You" is a time-travel love story of a woman who travels back in time after her lover dies and ends up meeting a different person with the same exact face as her beloved. It is based on the popular Taiwanese drama series "Someday or One Day" (2019–20). Actors Jeon Yeo-been and Ahn Hyo-seop will take the lead.

NewJeans's track will be a remake of a popular 1996 rock ballad titled "Beautiful Restriction" by singer Kim Jong-seo, well-known for its candid lyrics of how someone realizes that they've started to fall in love with someone and see themselves change in the process.

This is the first time all NewJeans members are participating in a song for an OST. Member Danielle dropped a Korean cover of "Part of Your World" from the film "The Little Mermaid" in May.

NewJeans has been one of the biggest names in K-pop since its debut last year. Its hits "Ditto" (2022), "OMG" and "Hype boy" (2022) were the three most-streamed and downloaded songs in the first half of 2023, and the band's debut track "Attention" (2022) was the seventh most-streamed and downloaded song in Korea.

The band topped the Billboard 200 albums chart for the first time with its latest and second EP "Get Up" and saw its lead tracks "ETA," "Cool With You" and "Super Shy" top music charts in and outside of Korea for weeks.
