Gyeongbok Palace's kitchen will open to the public next month, offering opportunities for visitors to try traditional Korean dishes and watch performances.

The program, dubbed "Suragan Sisikgonggam," will take place from Oct. 20 to 28 at Sojubang, or royal kitchen, inside the palace in Jongno District, central Seoul, the Cultural Heritage Administration said Monday in a press release.

Suragan Sisikgonggam runs two events, "Saenggwabang at night" and "Sikdorak."

"Saenggwabang at night" offers traditional Korean music performances with royal desserts of the Joseon Dynasty (1392–1910).

"Sikdorak" serves visitors tarakjuk, or porridge made of milk and rice, while they watch a play about the porridge.

Sojubang visitors will also be able to make dried persimmon snacks with pine nuts inside the fruit and try traditional snacks and games along with other activities.
