Singer and actor Rain on Tuesday denied accusations raised against him over an alleged real estate fraud worth 8.5 billion won ($6.34 million) the previous day.

A video on YouTube uploaded Monday told the case about Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, based on the account of an individual who claims to have filed a complaint against the singer for false property sales.

The claimant said he and Rain made an agreement to sell buildings to one another — the claimant, his property in Namyang New Town in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi, and Rain, his property in Itaewon, central Seoul.

The individual had asked Rain to take a look at his Itaewon residence firsthand, which Rain rejected for privacy reasons. The claimant said he found out that the building was completely different from what he had been told after the trade deal was signed.

He filed the case against Rain at Yongsan Police Precinct last month.

Rain’s agency Rain Company denied the allegation in a statement on its social media as the rumor spread.

“It is an immoderate attempt to scratch a vendor solely for being a celebrity,” Rain Company said.

“The fact that someone would buy a multibillion won house from just its photos is entirely illogical from a sensible standpoint.”

The agency claimed that accusations raised against Rain do not match up with the register copy or the building register that are exchanged during the sales process.

Rain Company went on to argue that it has “a lot of evidence” to refute the claims.

“The buyer’s claims are very distant from the facts of the case as well as common sense,” it added, pledging to seek fitting countermeasures for taking advantage of Rain’s status as a public figure.
