"The Gil," a music documentary about four musicians in Britain remaking popular R&B group g.o.d's hit songs, has been invited to Britain's Bright International Film Festival and Scandinavian International Film Awards.

The four musicians are Johnny Copley, Korean British rapper Park Seung-woo and indie singers Ruth Guillem Gomez and Nicole Hardisson Hernandez, who appeared on SBS two years ago as performers.

The songs they are remaking are "One Candle" (2000) and "Road" (2001).

The film is about building friendships through sharing heartfelt stories through music.

It is also a directorial debut for Korean British filmmaker Jeon Saet-byul.

The soundtrack for "The Gil" is set to be distributed worldwide in December through various streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Melon.

"It's meaningful to reignite the songs that were a source of comfort during my adolescence, now in the UK, in the form of a film," Jeon said in a press release.

g.o.d is a Korean R&B band that debuted in 1999 with "Chapter 1" and was beloved by domestic fans with hits such as "To Mother," "Love and Remember" and "Sorrow" in 1999, "One Candle" and "Lies" in 2000 and "Road" in 2001. The band's five members — Park Joon-hyung, Yoon Kye-sang, Danny Ahn, Son Ho-young and Kim Tae-woo — are also active as entertainers, solo singers and actors.
