Some 3,000 influencers from across the globe have been invited to Korea for a three-day event that kicks off on Dec. 30 at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Jung District, central Seoul, the organizer Seoul Business Agency (SBA) said Thursday.

The event, titled “2023 SeoulCon,” invites thousands of influencers from 50 different countries who have millions of followers each, such as DJSoda, kikakiim, Anushka Sen and Shinsama, in an attempt to promote Korean culture and content including beauty and fashion.

Followers of the influencers and content creators who attend the event can join in the event virtually and participate in various programs ranging from fan meetings to talk sessions on beauty, fashion and technology.

On Dec. 31, there will be a countdown event for the New Year.

An array of K-pop acts including Jay Park, Apink, Chungha and H1-Key will kick start the New Year's “World K-pop Festival,” which begins at 6 p.m. on Dec. 31, at which the participants will all count down to the new year. When the clock strikes 12, the festival will switch gears and turn up the electronic dance music, transforming the venue into a dance floor. The event will also be streamed live.

According to SBA, the upcoming event has been organized more like an year-end party instead of a business-like conference so that the Korean culture and businesses connected to them can naturally be promoted.
