Blue House gets 5 million visitors in 21 months

The Blue House has now been visited by over 5 million visitors, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said Wednesday.

It reached the 5-million mark on Saturday, during the Seollal holiday. It has been one year and nine months since the former presidential house opened to the public.

The Culture Ministry held cultural events at the Blue House, including lectures from history experts and tea classes, from Friday to Sunday as part of its Lunar New Year festivities. The tea classes were especially popular, and spots sold out immediately after reservations opened.

A total of 45,724 people visited the Blue House over the three-day event.

“We plan on continuing to make the Blue House an open cultural space to the public by providing various exhibitions, educational programs and cultural content,” the Culture Ministry said in a press release.
