Sports brand Fila has built water filtration systems at five medical centers in Cambodia in an effort to improve the quality of life for underprivileged Cambodians.

The systems were installed at five medical centers in Ratanakiri, located in northeastern Cambodia, which was identified as an area in need of support due to its lack of clean water for hospitals and public health centers.

Fila also completed water quality inspections to check for the successful filtration of 16 potential contaminants including chlorine and aluminum.

Some 15,000 pregnant women and children under the age of five visit those centers every year, but they have difficulties in controlling infections and inadequate medical services, Fila said.

The six-month-long project was jointly carried out with an international humanitarian development NGO, Good Neighbors, from August 2023.

The brand also offered training for local officials and residents on how to use and maintain the water filtering system last month.

“It is meaningful that this support activity allows us to contribute even a little to the foundation of healthier lives in Ratanakiri, Cambodia, by establishing access to clean and safe water,” said an official from Fila. “We plan to continue making various efforts for sustainable coexistence with neighbors in need.”
