Korea issued a provisional special travel advisory for Iran as of Monday in response to escalated tensions in the Middle East.
The existing Level 3 of Korea's four-tier travel advisory system, which strongly advises Koreans there to leave the country, remains in effect. It includes certain areas of Iran, including its borders with Iraq and Turkey. Other areas under Level 2 were raised to Level 2.5.
The Foreign Ministry urged Koreans to reconsider or defer travel plans to Iran during the special travel advisory period.
