Did you “Get A Guitar”? Then it’s time to feel the “Boom Boom Bass.”
Boy band Riize released its first EP “Riizing” on Monday at 6 p.m., continuing the musical instrument theme it pursued since its debut single “Get A Guitar” (2023), followed by singles “Talk Saxy” (2023) and “Siren” (2023).
“I think ’Boom Boom Bass’ is a continuation of ‘Get A Guitar,’” Riize member Wonbin said during a showcase held Monday afternoon in central Seoul.
“We showed our young vibe back then but this time, we're back with a more matured side of ourselves,” he said.
“Riizing” comes as the band’s first album since its debut in September last year. Seven tracks of the 8-track album were released prior to Monday's unveiling, excluding the lead track "Boom Boom Bass." Previously released tracks include “Siren,” “Talk Saxy” and “Love 119.”
“'Boom Boom Bass’ is all about the energetic vibe, which we tried to get across in our vocals,” said Anton. “We really did have fun while we were recording. I really like the outro where we all sing together, which has the message that Riize and Briize will both make it big.”
The ‘togetherness’ of Riize and Briize, the fan club, was repeatedly highlighted during Monday’s showcase.
“We have a slogan which means that Riize rises with the help of Briize,” Eunseok said.
“We couldn’t wait to show Briize the new song,” Sohee said. “We know that we are being loved so much by fans, and we can only hope to return that love in the best way that we can.
Riize met with fans in Korea on May 3 and 4 in Seoul, and then held a round of fan concerts this month as part of its tour titled “Riizing Day” in Los Angeles; Hong Kong; Jakarta, Indonesia; and Taipei, Taiwan.
The band is set to begin another part of its tour with a performance in Manila on July 14, followed by stops in Singapore and Bangkok. The Japanese leg of the tour will begin on July 24.
“The fan concerts have definitely helped us learn more about performing and being on stage,” Wonbin said. “I think we’ve become more relaxed on the stage.”
Riize will make its official Japanese debut in September with the single “Lucky” to mark its first anniversary of debuting in Korea. Two encore concerts of the tour will take place on Sept. 14 and 15 at the KSPO Dome in southern Seoul.
“The title of the EP ‘Riizing’ is a combination of our group's name Riize and -ing, meaning that we are, indeed, rising and realizing like our group name,” Sohee said.
“It’s not about the numbers, but the fact that we have indeed grown. We really hope to show how much we matured.”
