The parking lot for finished cars at Factory No. 2 at Kia's AutoLand Gwangju manufacturing plant in Gwangju, South Jeolla, is half-empty on Thursday amid a labor strike that started the same day.
A total of 1,500 workers from eight businesses unionized under the Gwangju branch of the Korean Metal Workers' Union went on strike on Thursday over amendments to the Trade Union and Labor Relations Adjustment Act. This included two businesses that supply parts to Kia's AutoLand Gwangju, resulting in disruptions at two out of three of the plant's production lines.
