More shops shutter in second quarter than COVID-19 peak

More stores in the dining sector closed in Seoul during the second quarter than the quarterly peak during the Covid-19 pandemic, according to data from the Seoul Metropolitan Government on Sunday.
In the second quarter, 6,290 shops in the dining sector closed in the capital, up 6.2 percent from the first quarter's tally of 5,922. This number is even higher than the 6,258 shops that closed in the first quarter of 2020 during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
