Netflix’s Korean historical film “Uprising,” starring Gang Dong-won and Cha Seung-won, will be released on Oct. 11, the streaming giant said Friday.

Directed by Kim Sang-man and produced and co-written by director Park Chan-wook, the maestro behind Bafta-nominated “Decision to Leave” (2022), the “Uprising” depicts two childhood friends — one the son of a renowned Joseon warrior and the other a servant — whose differing social standings lead them to become adversaries during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910).

Actor Gang portrays Cheon-yeong, a humble servant with exceptional sword skills, while Park Jeong-min plays Lee Jong-ryeo, the son of a prestigious military family from the Joseon Dynasty. Cha will appear as King Seonjo (reign: 1567 to 1608), who fled and abandoned his people.
