Members of the KT DMZ Ecological Conservation Group use drones to feed migratory birds on Thursday.
KT announced Thursday that its DMZ Ecological Conservation Group, part of the company's biodiversity activities beneath its broader environmental, social and governance umbrella, had completed a campaign to help protect and conserve the ecosystems of the demilitarized zone in Paju, Gyeonggi.
The initiative aims to protect biodiversity in the DMZ, which is home to 2,930 species of animals and plants, by performing conservation activities and delivering lectures in the area. Thursday's group included students from Daeseong Elementary School, the only school in the DMZ, as well as children of its faculty and staff. KT has maintained its long-standing relationship with Daeseong-dong, a village located in the northernmost part of the DMZ, since 2001.
