Mommy Son thanks fans in video

On Wednesday, rookie rapper Mommy Son, who scored a major hit with his debut song “Shonen Jump,” revealed that the success of his song on YouTube has proven profitable.

On Wednesday morning, the rapper posted a video to his channel titled “Mommy Son YouTube Profit Reveal.”

“I’m going to tell you something that you’re all curious about,” said Mommy Son throughout the video.

On Sept. 14, the rapper posted his “Shonen Jump” music video to YouTube and not the local online music charts, as a part of his musical experiment.

“I didn’t have any advertisements on ‘Shonen Jump’ for a month,” said the rapper. “So out of the 33 million views, 13 million have been left out - meaning that they didn’t make any money. From the rest of the 20 million views, I made $14,639. In Korean won, that’s about 17 million won.”

The reasons for revealing how much money that he made from his music video was clear - to thank the fans.

“I earned money and fame with ‘Shonen Jump,’” said Mommy Son. “I want to return the love I got from ‘Shonen Jump.’ I’m going to be paying you back with something that I love the most, travelling.”

The rapper announced that he will be taking some of his fans on a trip with the money that he made. “I will be coming back soon with the details of how I’m going to choose, but I’m taking some followers of my channel on a trip.”

Mommy Son made his debut on the seventh season of Mnet’s hip-hop audition program “Show Me the Money.” People suspect that well-known rapper Mad Clown is the man behind the pink balaclava, but both Mad Clown and Mommy Son have denied this.
