IU thanks fans with special single

Singer IU has released a song she wrote to mark the end of her first acting experience.

With last weekend’s closure of the 50-episode drama “You’re the Best, Lee Soon-shin,” in which IU played the leading role of wannabe actress Lee Soon-shin, IU expressed her gratitude to her fans and those who participated in the drama.

She posted a message on an online fan page for the drama on Sunday.

“There are so many actors, actresses and crew members who relieved their stress by visiting this Web site, and I’m one of those,” she said.

“I contemplated how I should pay back my supporters, but there are not many things that I know how to do, so I wrote a song.”

She said she wrote the song earlier thinking that she might be able to use it in the drama but never did.

“But I did sing it a couple of times here and there, not trying to put any focus on it,” she added. “It’s now time for me to go back to being IU instead of Soon-shin.”

In the song she released online, IU sang with actor Jo Jung-suk, who played the role of Soon-shin’s boyfriend.
