Blackpink’s 'Ice Cream' music video hits 500 million views on YouTube

K-pop girl group Blackpink’s music video for its 2020 song “Ice Cream” reached 500 million views on YouTube, YG Entertainment announced on Monday.
 
According to the agency, the video surpassed the 500 million milestone around 10:56 a.m. on Monday, 170 days after the video was uploaded.
 
“Ice Cream” was released in August 2020 and features American pop singer Selena Gomez. It peaked at 13th on the Billboard Hot 100 shortly after its release, the highest rank ever reached by a K-pop girl group on the chart. “Ice Cream” stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 for eight consecutive weeks and also topped the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart.
 
Blackpink now has 10 YouTube videos that have more than 500 million views on YouTube, including music videos for “Boombayah” (2016), “As If It’s Your Last” (2017), “Ddu-du Ddu-du” (2018), “Kill This Love” (2019), and “How You Like That” (2020).
 
Blackpink debuted in 2016 with its first single “Square One” and released hit tracks including “Playing with Fire” (2016), “Forever Young” (2018), and “Lovesick Girls” (2020). The group also successfully held its first online live concert via YouTube on Jan. 31, viewed by approximately 280,000 fans.
