Girl group Blackpink became the first Asian girl group to make the cover of Rolling Stone on Tuesday.

The group graced the cover of the June issue of the American magazine which also featured an article describing Blackpink as "Pop Supernova" who have "become the world's biggest girl group, turning out banger after banger."

The article also included an exclusive interview with the members who discussed their rise to stardom.

"Blackpink's hip-hop is something that the world has never seen before," Jennie told Rolling Stone. "It isn't rebellious but I think we are still making great music."

Member Jisoo commented how surreal her global fame is.

"My parents are proud of me, but I don't feel like a world star. My status [in society] may have changed but I am still [the old] me."

Other girl groups that have made the cover of Rolling Stones are Spice Girls and Destiny's Child.

Blackpink debuted in 2016 with its first single “Square One” and has released hit tracks including “Playing with Fire” (2016), “Forever Young” (2018), and “Lovesick Girls” (2020).

Rolling Stone is an American monthly magazine founded in 1967. It covers music, film, TV and political news.
