Hit series "Taxi Driver" (2021) will be returning for a second season next year, according to the drama's broadcaster SBS on Thursday.
The five leads of the first season of "Taxi Driver" — Lee Je-hoon, Kim Eui-sung, Pyo Ye-jin, Jang Hyuk-jin and Bae Yoo-ram — will be reprising their roles for season two. Actor Esom, who was also a lead in season one of "Taxi Driver," will not be joining the cast due to scheduling issues.
SBS said that it aims to release the second season during the first half of 2023.
"Taxi Driver" is based on a webtoon of the same name written by Carlos and Lee Jae-jin. Season one's plot revolved around the character Kin Do-gi, portrayed by Lee, who works as someone who seeks revenge for those who have been unfairly wronged while in disguise as a taxi driver. It aired from April to May last year.
The series is said to be inspired by actual crimes that have been committed in Korea.
The first season of "Taxi Driver" was incredibly successful, recording the fourth-highest ratings during its time slot in SBS history, with 16 percent.
