Prosecutors recommend three-and-a-half year prison sentence for singer Bobby Chung

Prosecutors have recommended a three-and-a-half year prison sentence for singer Bobby Chung over allegations he sexually assaulted his ex-girlfriend and filmed her without her consent.

Chung's final hearing in the case was held on Wednesday afternoon at Seoul Western District Court in Mapo District, western Seoul.

Prosecutors requested the sentence based on the facts that Chung denied all charges against him and showed no remorse.

“I stand here at this moment because I am innocent,” Chung said during the hearing. “I have not done any actions without the consent of my counterpart.”

Chung was accused by his ex-girlfriend, who was reported to be a trainee singer, of sexual assault and illegal filming in July 2019. She committed suicide in April 2020.

Chung is also standing trial in a separate case after being charge with illegally filming another victim between July and September of 2020.

Chung debuted in 2009 as a member of Autumn Vacation. The duo disbanded after allegations against Chung came to light.

The verdict of the first trial is expected to be announced on Dec. 14.

Meanwhile, fans of BTS have taken to social media calling for a boycott of the song "Filter," which was part of the boy bands' album “Proof” (2020). Chung featured on the song.
