NCSoft, Sony join forces for global entertainment collaboration

Korean game publisher NCSoft and California-based Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) formed a strategic partnership to collaborate on the global entertainment business, NCSoft said on Wednesday.

NCSoft founder and CEO Kim Taek-jin and SIE CEO Jim Ryan are said to have met to sign the partnership.

Under the deal, both companies will collaborate in various global fields, including mobile, with an aim to create synergy leveraging NCSoft’s technology and SIE’s global network in the entertainment field.

“This partnership with SIE is the beginning of our efforts to build various synergies together, utilizing both companies’ core competencies, technological capabilities and expertise,” Kim said in a statement. “We will deliver a new and enjoyable experience to our audience across and beyond genres and regions.”

Ryan hopes the partnership can bolster SIE’s efforts “to expand beyond console and broaden PlayStation’s reach to a wider audience” and hopes to deliver impactful entertainment experiences for global players.
