Music producer and JYP Entertainment founder Park Jin-young donated one billion wons ($810,000) to help children in need receive medical treatment, the K-pop agency said Tuesday.

The donation aims to help children from underprivileged backgrounds who struggle with high medical and surgical expenses, according to JYP Entertainment.

The funds will be distributed to five hospitals in Korea, including Samsung Medical Center in Seoul. The five hospitals will each receive 200 million won to aid children in need.

Park also donated one billion won last year to Samsung Medical Center and the non-governmental charity organization World Vision. Each received 500 million won.

“Being a father and raising children myself, I deeply empathize with the countless children who are struggling not just with illness but also with the lack of funds for treatment,” Park said Monday.

“With the hope of becoming a source of strength for them, I decided to donate the funds directly to hospitals, ensuring they are used for the medical expenses of children in need.”

JYP Entertainment manages numerous K-pop artists like girl groups Twice, ITZY, NixiU and boy bands DAY6, Stray Kids and Xdinary Heroes.
