The "Baby Shark" soundtrack earned a gold certification from French record organization Syndicat National de l'Édition Phonographique (SNEP), making it the first Korean animation to achieve such a feat, The Pinkfong Company said Wednesday.

The SNEP provides certifications for albums and singles based on their streaming records — gold for 15 million streams, platinum for 30 million streams and diamond for 50 million streams. “Baby Shark” surpassed 15 million streams in France, according to SNEP.

Last July, the song earned a 4X Platinum certification from the British Phonographic Industry for surpassing 2.4 million copies in sales.

“Baby Shark” also surpassed a billion streams on streaming platform Spotify and sat at No. 8 on Britain’s Official Top 200 most-streamed songs in 2022.

“'Baby Shark' proved its global popularity, including in France, by receiving a gold certification from SNEP,” The Pinkfong Company said in a press release. “The Pinkfong Company will continue to make ‘K-kids pop’ that everybody can enjoy, regardless of their nationality or age.”
